ACCOMMODATION We are offering two types of accommodation: an historic hotel set in lush gardens leading to a river and two luxurious guest-houses. Guest-houses in South Africa are quite different from their counterparts in England. They are usually of a much higher standard of comfort with luxurious interiors and amenities such as gardens, terraces and swimming pools. Our recommended accommodation is just 5 minutes’ drive from the tennis club. THE ALPHEN COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL
A spectacular setting amidst the dappled shade of ancient oaks offers tranquillity and also easy access to the many splendours of the Cape.
The Alphen Hotel is a national monument, an historic country manor house offering more than just accommodation. Warm hospitality has reigned here since the 18th century. The gleaming patina of antique furniture reflects tales of a bygone era. Birds sing and squirrels scamper in glorious gardens in the heart of a former wine estate, centrally situated in the peninsula and at the gateway of the Constantia Valley and Wine Route. The hotel prides itself on old-fashioned values combined with contemporary comfort. Guest can relax in tranquil surroundings by the pool or pop out locally to attractive boutique shops and restaurants.
GUEST HOUSE ACCOMMODATION At Villa Fig is a stylish cape Dutch homestead with antiques, original oil paintings and marble floors. It adjoins a willow-lined river in the heart of the Constantia Valley and affords panoramic views of the Cape mountains. Guests can enjoy charming pool set in a manicured garden. The guesthouse is close to restaurants, wine-tasting, horse-riding and golf. The rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is provided.
Self-catering accommodation of similar quality and with similar amenities is available next door at the Lazy River guest-house.
