TENNIS WORLD  (U.K.)
"Enthusiasts of all ages and playing levels, from beginners to the most advanced tournament players, arrive in Oxford to receive a total immersion course in tennis from Markson and his staff of fourteen professionals. Markson provides coaches who are not only good teachers of tennis skills, but good demonstrators, inasmuch as they are all strong tournament players and, in some cases, current internationals."

TENNIS MAGAZINE (U.K.)
"Markson is an energetic barrister and Scottish International player who has had the good idea of turning empty Oxford Colleges to good use over the long vacation. His summer camp in Oxford is now firmly established as a holiday centre for the serious player. We  emphasise 'serious' because Markson's camps demand a lot; the calibre of his coaches is high and the harder you work the more you'll get out of the vacation."

OXFORD MAIL
"....the tennis camp has proved a huge success, so much so that it has been extended in duration to 7 weeks. it's not difficult to see how the camp has established such an excellent reputation. Apart from Markson's pedigree, which includes encounters with a number of the big names on the pro circuit, he insists on drawing on coaches of the highest standard.

There are not many camps in Britain and of those, the tennis is not as intensive as it is at Markson's camp. Who knows, in a few years' time, if more camps develop along these lines, perhaps it won't be long before British players are hitting the headlines.

....participants are taken to the cinema, the theatre, on tours of the Colleges, punting, on boat trips and ice-skating. There is plenty for them to do and I think that's another reason for the success of the camp. They enjoy the social side and it helps create a friendly atmosphere."

SERVE AND VOLLEY MAGAZINE
"The Markson Camp is very intensive and highly professional. The aim is to ensure that players of whatever age and standard make the maximum progress within the limited period of a week or so. Many come back year after year. Everyone leaves fitter and slimmer and many go on to become useful tennis players."

THE SUNDAY TIMES
"Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. I did learn a lot. I had a great deal of fun."
                                               GODFREY HODGSON

SERVE AND VOLLEY MAGAZINE
"The coaching is done through a variety of exercises, drills and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun."
                                                         CHRIS BAUERS

TENNIS MAGAZINE  (U.K.)
"Markson is a strong vigorous personality whose competitive 'killer' spirit rubs off onto his pupils. He drives very hard but they appear to enjoy it thoroughly. He concentrates on one stroke per day for 5 hours, emphasising early ball hitting, getting to the net and fitness."
                                            JOHN BALLANTINE
                                            of  THE SUNDAY TIMES

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH   -   'Humour in Coaching'

"....Markson, who introduces humour wherever possible to illustrate the advice he is giving, has attracted pupils from France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, United States, Belgium, Scandinavia, Brunei and the Cameroons, although the majority of about 500 taking part are from Britain."

TENNIS MAGAZINE  (U.K.)
"On reflection, there are really only two kinds of tennis camp. The first is held usually in tourist resorts. You play a little in the morning, then the sun gets high and you go down to the beach with a frothy pina colada. Before you know it, it's dark. Then you go to the disco with another pina colada. Then the next morning....! The second sort is about improving tennis: there's practice and courts, and a certain amount of devotion to trying. Jonathan Markson's Oxford Tennis Camp falls into this category, but that doesn't mean there's no room for fun.

We were split into groups of roughly equal ability ranging from close-to-beginners to very good. The Head Coach made sure each had a different combination of coach and court each session, which stopped any staleness.

You were taught whatever your coach thought you personally could cope with. The groups were never more than six, sometimes as few as three, which gave you plenty of time for playing and consulting your coach. The days did vary. There were also video sessions on the first and fifth days analysed by Markson himself, the former to illustrate our faults (how we groaned!) and the latter to show our progress. And people did improve; everyone took away some improvement from Oxford. Jonathan Markson's Oxford Tennis Camp is strongly recommended for the eager player."
                                                    CHARLES ARTHUR

TENNIS WORLD
"The only word of warning about the Markson courses is that you do run around a lot and some people discover muscles they never knew they had. But most still come away saying it was a holiday and that is what Jonathan Markson likes to hear."

TENNIS WEEK  (U.S.A.)
"If you are planning a trip to England this summer and want to mix a little culture with your tennis, The Jonathan Markson Oxford Tennis Camp is the ideal place to be. Using a total of 19 courts (grass, all-weather and indoor), Markson lays on five hours of instruction per day, with special stress placed on fitness and speed. He is also a devotee of the notion that a tennis ball should be struck early. He has a team of first-rate instructors to help him put across these excellent theories."
                                              RICHARD EVANS
