The 50 Best Ways to improve yourself - "This is a fun activity holiday," says Olivia Macleod,
veteran of Jonathan Markson Tennis Camps in both Oxford and the Algarve. In a group of six she enjoyed mornings of tuition from excellent coaches and endured revealing video analysis of her game. She left fitter and infinitely more
proficient.DAILY TELEGRAPH
I came away with a reconstructed serve that has come along no end. The coaching was deceptively easy-going and the drills were enormous
fun. Everyone on the course felt they had progressed.

FINANCIAL TIMES
It was clear that, while the coaching was seriously intensive on this course, the social side counted for almost as much. In no time
at all the social bonding was becoming firmly fixed. Did our tennis benefit from the course?
Certainly.

THE SUNDAY TIMES
Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. I did learn a lot. I had a great deal of fun.
GODFREY HODGSON
THE EUROPEAN
By the end of the week
I was still cursing loose forehands, double faults and fluffed volleys but I had improved almost every aspect of my game – and my confidence.
ANDREW WARSHAW
BRITISH AIRWAYS MAGAZINE
From my experience of attending both the Oxford Tennis Camp and Algarve Tennis Centre, Jonathan Markson tends to acquire talented coaches with a sense of humour – and thus hard work
is disguised as a lot of
fun.
JO KAPLAN
EVENING STANDARD
It was encouraging how quickly the coaches could single out flaws. PETER JESSUP
SERVE AND VOLLEY MAGAZINE
The coaching
is done through a variety of exercises, drill and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun. CHRIS BAUERS (EUROSPORT)
YORKSHIRE POST
It was all great fun, but between the good-natured banter, an expert analytical eye was at play, correcting obvious faults and praising our better strokes…….a lot of laughter mixed with serious
endeavour. This was our first experience of a group holiday and we enjoyed it
thoroughly.

SUNDAY EXPRESS
The views over the famous Luz Bay are stunning, the cottage-style apartments excellently appointed and the climate pretty much perfect. Walking the cobbled streets of this old fishing
village at night, one is struck by the timelessness of the place.…….whether you are a of beginner, intermediate or advanced standard your game is guaranteed to improve. The coaches see to that.
DAVID ANDREWS
TENNIS WORLD
Markson provides coaches who are not only good teachers of tennis skills but good demonstrators.
BIRMINGHAM POST
The Praia da Luz programme comprises three hours of coaching per day,
and as a club player I can vouch for its effectiveness. Going into the Algarve week my backhand was all over the place. In one hour the head coach had me playing confidently a shot that had eluded me for years.
MICHAEL WARD
THE OBSERVER
Luis is an adept practitioner of comic mime, and conducts his forehand master-class employing a variety of humorous pirouettes and flapping-chicken effects to demonstrate how not to do things,
which guarantee much hilarity – especially when 15 minutes later his parody of malfeasance is so exquisitely replicated in my own efforts.…….the village is charm itself, with its fishy restaurants and bars and white-painted villas
sprouting purple flowers over the balcony………and a lovely sandy beach where people are busy sunbathing.
PHIL HOGAN
THE MIRROR
It was a perfect base to relax in the sun or explore by hire-car the surrounding
villages rich in history or the fine sandy beaches. With two left feet, it would have been easy to give up and the slightest snigger from any of the coaches would have finished me off. But even when faced with a challenge like me
their faith remained as unshaken as their faces remained straight. And as the days progressed – tennis in the morning, relaxation in the afternoon and socialising at night – it did start to come together.

THE SUNDAY TIMES
My companion and I walked along the cliffs to the neighbouring villages to find delightful beachside restaurants……..but in the end tennis was the holiday. Most of us grew
fitter and technically better by the day. RICHARD WOODS
TENNIS MAGAZINE (U.K)
The camp is intensive and highly professional. People did improve.
Everyone took away some improvement from Oxford. Jonathan Markson's Oxford Camp is strongly recommended for the eager
player.

TENNIS WEEK (U.S.A.)
If you are planning a trip to England this summer and want to mix a little culture with your tennis, The Jonathan Markson Oxford Tennis Camp is the ideal
place to be. Markson lays on 5 hours of instruction per day with special stress placed on fitness and speed. He is also a devotee of the notion that a tennis ball should be struck early. He has a team of first-class instructors to
help him put across these excellent theories.
RICHARD EVANS
TENNIS MAGAZINE (U.K.)
For the first time in 14 years the Oxford men's tennis team won the Varsity match. The women's team beat Cambridge for the
first time in history. This remarkable double owes much to the coaching skills of Jonathan Markson, former Scottish international and Oxford University tennis captain. Markson is a strong vigorous personality whose competitive
"killer" spirit rubs off onto his pupils.
JOHN BALLANTINE of THE SUNDAY TIMES

It is such a relief to find a centre abroad where the calibre of coaches exceeds that of
bright-eyed, inexperienced teenagers, hastily recruited for paltry holiday money.
HENRY WANCKE
DOVE MAGAZINE (Italy)
At the Jonathan Markson Oxford Tennis Camp, you go to college like students of Oxford
University and play tennis in beautiful surroundings. The coaching is aimed at those who want to work hard to improve their tennis and have fun at the same time. Students from abroad are given English lessons by an Oxford graduate.
TENNIS MAGAZIN (Germany)
Jonathan Markson, who has successfully coached the Oxford University team to victories against Cambridge, is an outstanding teacher. He brings much personality into his
instruction and makes learning simple and fun.
MARITA WEBER
OXFORD MAIL
The tennis camp has proved a huge success, so much so that it has been extended in duration. It's not difficult to see how the camp
has established such an excellent reputation. Markson insists on drawing coaches of the highest standard. Also the participants enjoy the social side, which helps to create a friendly atmosphere.
