Though it was good experience for my daughter but I am not at all happy because you do not respond to queries. I hope my msg and emails are not send to spam. Its my right and your duty to share pics of all those who were in training
On Jonathan Markson it was a quite good service, and training was 👍🏻. The only thing was that the good wasent that well but ok!
Ottima esperienza, ottimi allenatori
Notre fils a adoré son séjour. Enseignement du tennis et de l'anglais de grande qualité + bonne ambiance + parfaitement sécurisé.
Thank you. It was a great start to our summer of tennis.
Very helpful booking team, excellent coaching, great accommodation. Really enjoy the low key informal approach but with such good coaches, seems to attract like minded friendly people. Not too organised and interaction with those who wanted to get together for drinks and meals just happened easily.
Very customer focused
Lois and his fellow coaches provide a holiday and coaching like no other by providing the perfect blend of instruction, fun and social activity. If you are looking for a bit more than just coaching this is for you.
Really enjoyed my week again. I did have to ask to move groups as I was automatically put with the other female players, who were less experienced players. I ended up playing with the 4 other male players. Coaching was good. Thank you to Christian, Shame rain meant our last day's tennis was cut short.
Hotel lovely as ever but annoying not to all be on the same table until half way through the holiday. Also food gets cleared away very quickly on one side at meals and you have to go to the other side to get fresh food. This is at least an hour before meals finish. Quite often there is also different food on the other side of the buffet area.
JMT is a brilliant tennis coaching company. I have now attended three camps and thoroughly enjoy my time there. Will be back! (Steve is the best coach)
Learnt a lot and the coaches were all amazing, thanks !
Really great coaching, learnt loads, played lots and I think really improved.
Had a wonderful time. Great standard of coaching and hotel lovely. My 3rd time here and would go again.
Thank you! We love the Villamiland Ali and the coaching team will really appreciate your comments.
Customer Service pre course was excellent.
Disappointingly split of group was linked to gender rather than ability and this has been my experience at previous Jonathan Markson course. I find it really annoying to have to point this out to the Head Coach. I expect the coaches on the first day to feed back on who should move where based on the ability demonstrated in the 1st session or the 2nd at the latest. Having worked with some of the coaches before made it even more annoying.
Among the coaching team for the fist 2 days in the Girls Classes I found, I think his name was Steve, New Zealander patronising and unwilling to provide clear instruction to Luke on what he was to do. The result was the same inappropriate feed for every drill.. When I save every drill it was hit one ball and join the back of the queue, so no intensity and no effective learning. Luke throughout the course was disinterested and looked at this watch pretty much at every opportunity. The coach provided too much theory and not enough practical work. If using good players rather than coaches on courses, I would suggest that they attend the LTA endorsed Feeding Skills Coure beforehand. Nick showed great improvement when working with Simon on the 2nd day and this continued throughout the remaining sessions that we were both involved in.
As is typical when groups are supposedly split by ability but is actually split by gender I joined the mens group for the last two days and in typical fashion had to warm up with the coach, as the group and led to believe that I am poorer player then them. Thereafter the content and intensity of the course was more appropriate to my level.
My rating reflects my overall view of the course. Items to look at for improvement in the future would be:
Split of group by ability and not gender.
Coaching Assistants to have completed Feeding Skills.
Coaches to work at an appropriate intensity for the group.
Coaches should not treat females as children and adapt their attitude and intonation accordingly.
Simon, Andy and Paco recovered the course from my point of view.
I like the intensity of the course. 20 hours of training within 4 days makes my legs and arms still a bit sore after 2 days, and I already miss it. It will be even better if there is more time to look at each player's different strokes and give comments individually. I definitely would love to come back again for more training.
Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you at the Clinic! Your passion for learning was amazing.
Overall, I thought the tennis coaching was of a very good standard.
The facilities at the Barnes centre were pretty poor, e.g. toilets, water tap being miles away.
We had some old tennis balls to start the course mixed in with some new ones which was a bit disappointing.
Though the parking was good..
I would recommend it, just check the weather as all the courts were outside.
I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed thecoaching. The facilities at Barnes have all been updated but unfortunately, it will be a few more weeks before everything is open. There will be a splendid new cafe, water taps and changing rooms. Apologies for the balls - this is my oversight and won't happen again. We had 5 out of 7 baskets of brand new balls but 2 baskets of balls used on clay the previous week.
Good course - good structure - good people
Very well organized, great, highly qualified and friendly coaches and just generally it was a wonderful experience. I had a great time!!! Will come back!
Wow. We are super hyped to receive this. Thank you, much appreciated. Keep enjoying your tennis :)
The tennis was great - really good group and coaches were spot on with the approach. The hotel however was another story, a huge disappointment. A 4* hotel, with no tea or coffee in the room, very basic breakfast, poor quality beds, bathroom supplies not refreshed every day, hot water running out after 1 shower. People who had come back for the tennis did not return to the hotel.
We are really pleased that you enjoyed your tennis and will pass on your comments to our team. We are very proud of our JMT coaches across the world.
We understand that the hotel has 4 stars displayed on the outside (and perhaps on their own literature) but JMT does not recognise it as such and does not sell it or price it as a 4-star hotel. I am going to make this clearer in our communication as it has been raised by a couple of clients recently and is certainly never our intention. I have no idea why they have 4 stars on their building and I agree that it is completely wrong. There is no Universal star rating enforcement which is definitely something that we would support.
We do communicate that there is no tea and coffee in the rooms during the sales process although there is a communal kitchen that can be used.
The hotel is sold as a value location ideal for tennis. However, you do raise points which will be addressed with the management of the hotel as they are disappointing to hear. Thank you for your feedback.
Good instruction on ground strokes. Helped with the serve.
Could improve with more succinct descriptions.
Thank you for your feedback.
Excellent Service and very friendly and professional. Luis and Riccardo are top instructors and worked to make the whole group better players.
An excellent course run by attentive coaches. It was hard work but I really enjoyed the week. The course was organised well with clear objectives and excellent feedback. Although there were different levels of players i.e young/old and intermediate/advanced the coaches made everyone feel comfortable and valued. There was no down time and we all went home in the evening satisfied ....and exhausted (in a good way).
The course was excellent value and probably the best coaching I have ever experienced. As an older player I was a little apprehensive about my ability to do an extensive course but it was fine - my knees actually felt better after day 3!
My 5th JM tennis camp.
Great coaches - they make the week
My family (wife and two kids, age 11 and 13) and I just came back from a week in Luz at one of Jonathan Markson's tennis holidays. We had a terrific time! The kids really enjoy the lessons and so did my wife and I (possibly even more). Luis (the head coach) and Ricardo were terrific. I wished they took the kids for a day or two as well as they were fun and full of good tips (especially Ricardo). We stayed at the Baia da Luz apartment resort, which is really nice. Large apartments, two pools (one for adults and one for kids), two additional tennis courts and one restaurant. The apartment was serviced twice during the week and there was a garage space available. The village is relatively small but with a very nice beach and some good restaurants. It is very close (10 min drive max) to Lagos and about one hour west of Faro, which is the closest airport. The weather was extremely pleasant basically the entire week in spite of being the last week of October.
One of the stand-outs from the Markson weekend (London Tennis Camp - August) is the quality of the coaches. Unlike some other tennis holidays where the coaches are simply on a year out, Markson likes to hire fully qualified teaching pros with years of experience. You can ask the most difficult of questions and you know they will have an answer. More importantly for me, you can ask the most basic of questions and they will take time to work with you. I was struggling with my double-handed backhand and one of the coaches took 20 minutes with me to go over all the fundamentals (grip, body position, footwork etc) to ensure I was comfortable. The 50 best ways to improve yourself - "this is a fun activity holiday," says olivia macleod, veteran of jonathan markson tennis camps in both oxford and the algarve. in a group of six she enjoyed mornings of tuition from excellent coaches and endured revealing video analysis of her game. she left fitter and infinitely more proficient.
For us, the set-up at the Jonathan Markson Tennis Centre in the Algarve works perfectly. Three hours of tennis tuition every morning, then the rest of the day free to do as much or as little as you wish.
It’s a low-key affair, a world away from the big centres like Val da Lobo or Forte Village, but one that works very well. There are five courts in total, three of them brand new this year. Coaching groups are a maximum of six people, although often fewer, which means the tuition is really tailored to each individual. (Read the full article)
I came away with a reconstructed serve that has come along no end. The coaching was deceptively easy-going and the drills were enormous fun. everyone on the course felt they had progressed.
It was clear that, while the coaching was seriously intensive on this course, the social side counted for almost as much. in no time at all the social bonding was becoming firmly fixed. did our tennis benefit from the course? certainly.

Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. i did learn a lot. i had a great deal of fun.
By the end of the week i was still cursing loose forehands, double faults and fluffed volleys but i had improved almost every aspect of my game – and my confidence.
British Airways Magazine
From my experience of attending both the oxford tennis camp and algarve tennis centre, Jonathan Markson Tennis tends to acquire talented coaches with a sense of humour – and thus hard work is disguised as a lot of fun.
It was encouraging how quickly the coaches could single out flaws.
Serve and Volley Magazine
The coaching is done through a variety of exercises, drill and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun.
Chris Bauers (Eurosport)
It was all great fun, but between the good-natured banter, an expert analytical eye was at play, correcting obvious faults and praising our better strokes... A lot of laughter mixed with serious endeavour. This was our first experience of a group holiday and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
The views over the famous luz bay are stunning, the cottage-style apartments excellently appointed and the climate pretty much perfect. Walking the cobbled streets of this old fishing village at night, one is struck by the timelessness of the place... Whether you are a of beginner, intermediate or advanced standard your game is guaranteed to improve. the coaches see to that.
