Excellent coaches,. above all fun. Something in short supply in recent times.
really excellent coaching and atmosphere-
ok -ish -facilities poor - parking useful
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate good and bad feedback as this can show if we have left any gaps in our communication. A couple of things I would like to address.
1. Socials. This camp is sold as a tennis-only camp so we do not have any social events organised afterwards. In Cambridge, we run a full residential camp where we organise social events each evening.
2. The changing rooms - these are in the main building and are modern and new. I am guessing that the reference to the changing rooms is in the old clubhouse which are not intended for player use as they are used for storage by the University tennis team. The new changing rooms also have new toilets but I realise they are a short distance to walk for players. I will add this information into the welcome pack so in future clients are aware of their location.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Nice Tennis clinic. A mixture of learning techniques, drills and rallies. Attention to details and personal coaching. Lovely experience.
Well organised, great coaching, nice group ( but tennis players usually are :-) ). Will go again
The coaches are really good
Second time going - would recommend to other beginners / improvers / intermediates looking to up their game in the London area. Coaches do a great job of balancing theory / drills / skill-based games / regular points to keep things interesting
Thank you for your feedback. We are all loving being back on court!
Excellent course - highly recommended, well run, good coaches and fun crowd!
Thank you. Keeo enjoying your tennis.
I loved the expertise of the coaches and the warm welcome.
It would be good to have somewhere dry to keep bags etc.
very nice. Coaches are professional and helpful. Program is well designed and adjusted.
Yes it was very good.
Very professional well run service. Good communication with prompt replies to queries. Excellent standard of tennis coaching. Caters for all levels.
Great coaches who were knowledgeable about the game and enthusiastic throughout. Would look to book another camp in the near future.
I would highly recommend the adult tennis clinic if you want to improve your tennis skills. The clinic was led by knowledgeable and friendly coaches and you get the chance to play with players of all abilities. Thanks so much for a worthwhile and enjoyable week Andy, Erwan and Dan. You guys are the best!!
Die Trainer waren toll, wir haben viele neue Impulse bekommen. Dass die Trainer auch abends mit uns unterwegs waren war super. Der rundum Service ist außergewöhnlich.
A great training camp for all level players.
We had a great week at the Fulham camp and left thoroughly impressed with the organisation, coaching and format. Our coaches Erwan, Andy and Dan were all very knowledgable and approachable, meaning that everyone finished the week playing a lot more confidently with many tips to remember going forwards. I would definitely consider doing one of these courses again, and hopefully not get a week where it's 30+ degrees in London!
It was quite hot for us all!! Well done on completing the week. Incredible effort by players and coaches. Thank you for your great feedback, I will pass this on to my team who will be delighted.
Erwan is fantastic, he gave some very good tips and demonstrated a true passion for the sport. He is very knowledgeable and keen to develop enthusiastic players of all levels.
I look forward to joining another session with him.
Excellent. I would recommend JMT to any tennis player. The coaching is superb and the venue was great
Thanks for your feedback. Always a pleasure to have you with us. Stay safe and hope to see you soon on the court again.
My 9-year-old son had a great time playing tennis with mostly excellent coaching (one coach taking the younger children was a little weaker, but he still had a good time with him). The admin was smooth. There weren't enough children for him to play at the ball level he is at, but that was probably largely because of the reduced numbers due to the need to social distance. The facilities are great and he loved the opportunity to play on clay and on grass. The only issue was that he felt an older child was unkind to him at lunchtime, which seemed to be almost entirely unsupervised. I mentioned it to the coaches which resulted in some improvements but not a complete fix.
Thank you for your feedback. It was a great week and we are very pleased that your son enjoyed the camp. It is worth mentioning (as this is a public forum) that the camp is supervised at all times - the coaching team (5 staff, ratio 1:5) is always on-site which is completely closed to the public. We do let the players relax at lunchtime and they mostly appreciate a little time to chat amongst themselves. I am glad our coaching team acted on your feedback and I am sorry that the situation was not completely fixed.
Excellent coach. Nice venue.
It was a very enjoyable week, good structure and our coach Simon was excellent.
Great tennis camp for our children, aged 9 and 11! The coaches provided a variety of drills that kept things interesting, and encouraged everyone to elevate their game. The coach/student ratio was great, allowing a more personalized experience. The Head Coach, Erwan, made sure that everything was running smoothly, and actively provided valued feedback. We plan to book again next summer. Thank you for a great week!
Thank you, see you next year!
One of the stand-outs from the Markson weekend (London Tennis Camp - August) is the quality of the coaches. Unlike some other tennis holidays where the coaches are simply on a year out, Markson likes to hire fully qualified teaching pros with years of experience. You can ask the most difficult of questions and you know they will have an answer. More importantly for me, you can ask the most basic of questions and they will take time to work with you. I was struggling with my double-handed backhand and one of the coaches took 20 minutes with me to go over all the fundamentals (grip, body position, footwork etc) to ensure I was comfortable. The 50 best ways to improve yourself - "this is a fun activity holiday," says olivia macleod, veteran of jonathan markson tennis camps in both oxford and the algarve. in a group of six she enjoyed mornings of tuition from excellent coaches and endured revealing video analysis of her game. she left fitter and infinitely more proficient.
For us, the set-up at the Jonathan Markson Tennis Centre in the Algarve works perfectly. Three hours of tennis tuition every morning, then the rest of the day free to do as much or as little as you wish.
It’s a low-key affair, a world away from the big centres like Val da Lobo or Forte Village, but one that works very well. There are five courts in total, three of them brand new this year. Coaching groups are a maximum of six people, although often fewer, which means the tuition is really tailored to each individual. (Read the full article)
I came away with a reconstructed serve that has come along no end. The coaching was deceptively easy-going and the drills were enormous fun. everyone on the course felt they had progressed.
It was clear that, while the coaching was seriously intensive on this course, the social side counted for almost as much. in no time at all the social bonding was becoming firmly fixed. did our tennis benefit from the course? certainly.

Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. i did learn a lot. i had a great deal of fun.
By the end of the week i was still cursing loose forehands, double faults and fluffed volleys but i had improved almost every aspect of my game – and my confidence.
British Airways Magazine
From my experience of attending both the oxford tennis camp and algarve tennis centre, Jonathan Markson Tennis tends to acquire talented coaches with a sense of humour – and thus hard work is disguised as a lot of fun.
It was encouraging how quickly the coaches could single out flaws.
Serve and Volley Magazine
The coaching is done through a variety of exercises, drill and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun.
Chris Bauers (Eurosport)
It was all great fun, but between the good-natured banter, an expert analytical eye was at play, correcting obvious faults and praising our better strokes... A lot of laughter mixed with serious endeavour. This was our first experience of a group holiday and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
The views over the famous luz bay are stunning, the cottage-style apartments excellently appointed and the climate pretty much perfect. Walking the cobbled streets of this old fishing village at night, one is struck by the timelessness of the place... Whether you are a of beginner, intermediate or advanced standard your game is guaranteed to improve. the coaches see to that.
