I really enjoyed tennis camp and will come back and recommend to anyone.
Thanks to all Jonathan Markson Tennis team for making this great experience.
Excellent quality tennis coaching and an all round terrific experience.
Thank you. Your feedback will be passed on to the coaching team.
Brilliant camp run by true professions.
Thank you. It was lovely to be on court and see such a great commitment to learning by our players.
Excellent resort, hotel and tennis facilities. I really enjoyed the holiday and 3 hours of tennis in the morning, leaving your afternoons free. The pre-holiday service was patchy and inconsistent but the holiday itself more than made up for it. The only negative I had was on the first day of coaching, we were split into male and female groups - why? that seemed just lazy and irrelevant - nothing to do with standard. I complained to the head coach and he changed it the next day. However, not sure this should ever be the case in this day and age....
Thank you for your great feedback. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed your experience. It is not our policy to split any groups in any way other than by level and age (for child players). We are pleaed to hear that the coaches changed the structure after you gave feedback. We have passed on this feedback to the Mallorca coaching team.
Really good holiday and high level of coaching. Hotel a genuine 4* and very welcoming
We were a large group of 20 people and I was the group's co-coordinator so thoroughly appreciated the friendly and efficient booking service, The payment system was also straight forward, allowing each individual to pay directly rather than it all having to be collated by one member of the group. Because of the size of our group, transfers to / from the hotel in Barcelona were arranged at our request, and these worked really well, much easier than trying to keep everyone together on the Metro.
The hotel was a typical 3 star and perfectly adequate. The service from the staff on reception though was exceptional. They assisted with restaurant recommendations and bookings, advice on city tours and calling the transfer company to confirm timings on our return. Our rooms were in a different building, a 3-4 minute walk from the main reception. This was absolutely fine.
The tennis was brilliant. During the course of the 3 days there were 5 coaches on hand so our groups were small and they made it fun. The coaching started each morning at 8am which was quite early. The club has a wonderful shaded area and a cafe that serves excellent coffee and refreshments and it was a great place to chill in when not on court. We had rain on our final morning and were not allowed on the clay courts so the coaches organised an introduction to paddle tennis for us.
Very helpful and informative three days, packed with action and coaching. The theme was movement and the drills made you really use your legs. Coaches Steve and Christina were fabulous, making everything great fun while at the same time paying great attention to detail. And head coach Nico was brilliant. Going through the video he made - in my case of my forehand - was extremely instructive, as was his 'bungee' equipment to make you appreciate how it feels when you REALLY bend your legs! He also kept an eye on everything and everyone, and ensured all ran smoothly. This was my first time on a Jonathan Markson camp; it was both hugely enjoyable and useful, highly recommended.
Excellent programme, good amount of intensity and drills, coaches have a great eye for detail and I have made visible improvements in my technique, and really enjoyed the course!
Andrea was always availabe and professionnal
This was my first tennis holiday and I really enjoyed my week. The group was small and of mixed abilities but we received individual instruction which was clear and precise so I was finally able to understand and correct some bad habits.
I have a long way to go and lots to learn, I would definitely recommend this holiday and I intend to go on a lot more!
We are very pleased you enjoyed your first tennis holiday! Thank you for the lovely feedback.
Overall I enjoyed the experience. The coaches were excellent and coped well with the weather! However I understood there was to be an evaluation of play on the first day and we would then be put into groups. This didn't happen and we stayed with the same group until we asked for a change on day 4. It made it so much more fun to be with different players. Also it would also have helped to been rotated around the courts. We asked but it didn't happen. Courts 9 & 10 were much wetter than the rest and the balls became heavy water bombs very quickly!
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your experience and appreciate your comments on the group changes.

Great coaches, under the guidance of Nicholas ... weather was bleak for a couple of the 4 days but everyone worked tirelessly to keep the enthusiasm going.....
Both Luiz and Ricardo were effective and knowledgeable coaches who provided relaxed but focused teaching and had good rapport with all the students. We had unseasonably bad weather but they were both willing to work through it. My level was much better than at the start of the week and has stayed high since I came back to the UK. We also enjoyed a very nice meal at the end of the course. Would definitely recommend for good club players who don't get the opportunity to practice drills and hone their technique. The groups are small which meant that we all felt like we got plenty of attention.
The coaching was excellent, we all learnt a lot and already are planning to return next year.
I was very satisfied with my coach Ismaël Dulloo. The training was well measured out and he was very patient and knowledgeable, pleasent to train with. I have learned a lot from Ismaël and my tennis skills have improved thanks to his coaching. I would recommend him further without reservations.
It was very well organised despite difficult weather conditions and as an LTA registered coach myself I can say both Luis and Ricardo were first class coaches showing great interest in all players and both taking time to discuss our games.
Yes I would recommend the week and would go again in the future.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Our owner is currently in the Algarve meeting the team so she will pass your kinds words on to them. We are very pleased you enjoyed your holiday.
I've just completed my third tennis week at Luz - each time staying at the Estella da Luz apartments. There's a good gym and indoor pool there. I've gone at different times of the year, had different numbers of fellow players (including none!) and different weather conditions and enjoyed each one. If you love to play tennis and want to improve your play with the support of great coaches, then I can highly recommend this holiday.
My latest trip had the forecast of lots of rain each day (really unusual) and I doubted whether I'd get to play much. In fact Luis and Ricardo were really flexible and I played on each of the six days. Really enjoyed the coaching and it was lovely to see Vasco again too when he dropped by to say hello.
It's just not possible to play outside this much at this time of year in the U.K. so a wonderful tennis 'fix' and though out of season, there were plenty of good restaurants and places to visit in and around Luz. I really think you can't go wrong.
Thank you for this great feedback. It is always lovely to receive such feedback AND it is very helpful to other clients who are thinking about coming to the resort. We are a small company committed to our love of tennis - rain or shine :)
Excellent personalised dedicated professionalism from the two tennis coaches. The accommodation and breakfasts were very good for the price.
Greatest coaches. Dead serious and humorous humans.
Responsive to questions, clear instructions, helpful during booking and tennis instructors were excellent - enjoyable accommodations.
Excellent, friendly coaching.
Great coaching...good guidance and very supportive environment. Helped me to improve my each stroke and brought a more postive outlook for me.
The tennis coaching was absolutely excellent, the accommodation is a little poor.
One of the stand-outs from the Markson weekend (London Tennis Camp - August) is the quality of the coaches. Unlike some other tennis holidays where the coaches are simply on a year out, Markson likes to hire fully qualified teaching pros with years of experience. You can ask the most difficult of questions and you know they will have an answer. More importantly for me, you can ask the most basic of questions and they will take time to work with you. I was struggling with my double-handed backhand and one of the coaches took 20 minutes with me to go over all the fundamentals (grip, body position, footwork etc) to ensure I was comfortable. The 50 best ways to improve yourself - "this is a fun activity holiday," says olivia macleod, veteran of jonathan markson tennis camps in both oxford and the algarve. in a group of six she enjoyed mornings of tuition from excellent coaches and endured revealing video analysis of her game. she left fitter and infinitely more proficient.
For us, the set-up at the Jonathan Markson Tennis Centre in the Algarve works perfectly. Three hours of tennis tuition every morning, then the rest of the day free to do as much or as little as you wish.
It’s a low-key affair, a world away from the big centres like Val da Lobo or Forte Village, but one that works very well. There are five courts in total, three of them brand new this year. Coaching groups are a maximum of six people, although often fewer, which means the tuition is really tailored to each individual. (Read the full article)
I came away with a reconstructed serve that has come along no end. The coaching was deceptively easy-going and the drills were enormous fun. everyone on the course felt they had progressed.
It was clear that, while the coaching was seriously intensive on this course, the social side counted for almost as much. in no time at all the social bonding was becoming firmly fixed. did our tennis benefit from the course? certainly.

Physically the camp is demanding but not exhausting. i did learn a lot. i had a great deal of fun.
By the end of the week i was still cursing loose forehands, double faults and fluffed volleys but i had improved almost every aspect of my game – and my confidence.
British Airways Magazine
From my experience of attending both the oxford tennis camp and algarve tennis centre, Jonathan Markson Tennis tends to acquire talented coaches with a sense of humour – and thus hard work is disguised as a lot of fun.
It was encouraging how quickly the coaches could single out flaws.
Serve and Volley Magazine
The coaching is done through a variety of exercises, drill and consultation breaks, so people have constant stimulation and a good deal of fun.
Chris Bauers (Eurosport)
It was all great fun, but between the good-natured banter, an expert analytical eye was at play, correcting obvious faults and praising our better strokes... A lot of laughter mixed with serious endeavour. This was our first experience of a group holiday and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
The views over the famous luz bay are stunning, the cottage-style apartments excellently appointed and the climate pretty much perfect. Walking the cobbled streets of this old fishing village at night, one is struck by the timelessness of the place... Whether you are a of beginner, intermediate or advanced standard your game is guaranteed to improve. the coaches see to that.
